Precautions when installing grooved pipe fittings

1. When ordering grooved parts, choose the appropriate sealing ring. Different media in the pipeline require sealing rings of different materials. At present, there are eight kinds of sealing rings of different materials in the market to suit different media.
2. Pipe groove (also called rolling groove) is the key process of pipe connection, and also an important link that determines the connection quality of grooved parts. The width and depth dimensions of the trench must meet the requirements. When grooving, the end of the pipe mouth should be flat and free from burrs, and the port should be perpendicular to the axis of the pipe, so that the rolled groove can be perpendicular to the central axis of the pipe, and the length from the groove to the pipe end must be equal. If the ovality of the pipe and the wall thickness of the welded galvanized pipe are uneven, it should be corrected as much as possible when rolling the groove, otherwise the groove will have uneven depth and their tightness cannot be guaranteed.
3. For groove connection of seamless steel pipes, products that have been galvanized by regular manufacturers should be selected. If the method of purchasing seamless steel pipes and then going out for galvanizing is used, the quality of galvanizing cannot be guaranteed due to oxidation and corrosion caused by long-term storage of steel pipes. The adhesion of the galvanized layer is poor, and the galvanized layer is easy to crack or even fall off when rolling the groove, thus affecting the sealing and service life. In order to achieve good sealing performance after the pipeline is installed, in addition to purchasing grooved parts with good performance and ensuring that the sealing ring is not damaged, the sealing ring [edge and outside] need to be coated with a layer of neutral lubricant during installation to ensure the sealing ring. Lip and pipe seal fit more tightly.
4. The use of rigid joints and flexible joints in grooved parts should be reasonable. Rigid joints are suitable for pipe ends that require rigid connections in low-pressure pipes, such as spray risers, long-distance straight pipes, valves, equipment, etc. Good rigidity. Flexible joints are suitable for the connection of medium and low pressure pipelines. After installation, the pipelines are allowed to have a certain amount of shrinkage and deflection to compensate for the slight displacement of the pipelines. It is more suitable for the installation of pipelines in uneven environments; it can also absorb noise, vibration, and earthquake stress. It is generally used on the inlet and outlet pipes of water pumps in fire protection systems.
5. If the distance of the fire-fighting horizontal pipe is long, when the hanger is used, in order to suppress the pipe channeling, it is recommended to use a flexible joint in the middle part to ensure that the axial channeling is not large, so as not to affect the bending of the horizontal branch connected to it.
6. When installing fire-fighting pipes in places with a certain temperature difference, when the pipes use fixed brackets and anti-shake brackets, flexible joints and rigid joints can be used in combination, so that the axial force generated by pressure or temperature difference changes will not affect the bending of the lateral branch pipe .
